Elemental Anchors: The Forces That Hold Us Steady - II
Practices for the Second Cycle of Astronomical Grief
Ways we stay steady as we explore.
To learn more about The Four Forces, read the intro post to this series. To learn more about anchors, read the prelude to this series.
The Love Force
An Ebb-and-Flow Anchor - Water.
A presence practice
Find water. Any water.
Watch her move. Note what her movement is like and how it affects what's around her.
Let the water touch, wash over, engulf your body - however you can contact the water with your material self, do that.
Now let the water contact your more-than-material self. Notice.
Archive your experience however you'd like.
The All-Light Force
A Light-Shifting Anchor - Moon
A shadow practice.
Find the moon.
If you can't access her, take in a photo or visualize from a story you listen to or remember.
Over the course of many days - up to a week - take in her shadow.
Notice how her shadow changes.
How long do you have to take her in until you the edge of the moon on her shadow side emerges?
What is in her shadow?
The Alchemical (or Magic) Force
A You-and-Me Anchor - Us
A touch practice.
Find your person who believes in your magic.
Be close enough to touch each other. This can be at whatever level is consensual, comfortable, and meaningful.
It may be a way you often touch - like giving a hug or sitting close enough to brush against one another. It could be something new with intention - like linking arms or holding hands while running down a hill.
If you can't be in person, connect virtually in a way that can be perceived in your body.
The Grief Force
A Call-and-Response Anchor - Need
A permission practice.
Find the space where your grief comes to the surface of your emotions, of your body.
What emotions can you name? What sensations do you notice?
What do you need? Answer honestly.
Who can you share this need with? Call them (instead of messaging so voices can be heard) and share.
When they offer, let them respond to your need.
In all this, give thanks. Thanks for the flow, thanks for the shadow, thanks for the touch, thanks for the permission.
